Most recently, Hockey Canada utilized GameStrat’s live to bench replay technology at the 2025 IIHF World Junior Championship and will continue to use it in some of the biggest international hockey tournaments, including the 2025 Women’s World Championship, the 2025 Men’s World Championship, and the upcoming 2026 Winter Olympics in Italy.
The Benefits of Live-to-Bench Replay for Hockey Canada
Having access to instant video replay on the bench is a game-changer for coaching staffs and players at the highest levels. Here are some of the key advantages Hockey Canada gains by using GameStrat’s live-to-bench replay system:
1. Real-Time Adjustments & Tactical Decisions
Coaches can review the video instantly and provide immediate feedback to players, allowing for quick in-game adjustments on systems, breakouts, special teams, and individual player performance. Instead of waiting for intermission or post-game video, coaches can make changes on the fly to gain an edge.
2. Tagging & Flagging Key Moments
With live-tagging features from the iPad, coaches are not only able to review video instantly, but they are able to mark key events to easily pull up to review with players either in between shifts or ready to pull up during intermissions. This is a huge advantage compared to most teams who often have to wait until intermission to have their video coach pull up playlists from the period to review moments for the first time. Everyone knows that time is crucial and every second counts.
3. Reviewing Challenges & Key Situations
GameStrat allows coaches to instantly review plays before making a challenge. With penalty decisions, offside calls, and close plays at the net, having video confirmation within seconds provides coaches with critical insight before taking action.
4. Player Development & Video Analysis
Live-to-bench replay isn’t just a tool for in-game decision-making—it also enhances player development. Coaches can use tagged plays and instant replays to reinforce teaching points, helping players adjust and improve their game in real time.
As Hockey Canada continues to compete on the world’s biggest stages, having access to GameStrat’s live-to-bench replay system ensures their teams can make smarter, faster, and more informed decisions in real time. As more elite hockey programs recognize the value of live in-game replay, GameStrat remains committed to delivering the most reliable and efficient video technology for teams looking to maximize their performance.
