The 2024 Texas high school football season marked a pivotal moment in the sport’s history. For the first time, in-game video replay was allowed, giving teams a powerful new tool to analyze and adjust strategies during games. After years of anticipation and debate, the first season with this technology has officially concluded—and it’s clear the impact was substantial.

In 2023, Hockey Canada joined the list of elite organizations leveraging GameStrat, bringing live-to-bench replay to the world stage for all of their national hockey teams.

GameStrat has been a leader in in-game video replay for close to a decade, providing replay to over 1,000+ football teams across the country. In 2024, NCAA teams were allowed to use in-game video technology for the first time. GameStrat quickly became the go-to choice, with over 70% of Division I FCS teams using the system, including 7 of the final 8 playoff teams.

The North Central College Football have established themselves as a powerhouse in NCAA Division III football. Located in Naperville, Illinois, and competing in the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW), the Cardinals have dominated the national stage under Head Coach Brad Spencer. Since taking over in 2022, Coach Spencer has led the Cardinals to an incredible 44-1 record, securing two national championships and a national runner-up finish in his first three seasons.

2024 marked the first year that in-game video replay technology was approved for high school football in Texas. For programs like Rockwall High School, the introduction of in-game replay offered a new way to analyze and adjust during games. Head Football Coach and Athletic Coordinator Trey Brooks wasted no time in implementing GameStrat to help his team navigate the challenges of the season.

2024 was a landmark year for Texas high school football, as in-game video replay technology was approved for the first time. Among the programs taking advantage of this new technology were the Anna Coyotes Football. After winning the 4A Texas state championship in 2023, the Coyotes moved up to compete at the 5A level. In their first season in the tougher division, Anna finished with a solid 9-4 record and advanced to the 3rd round of the playoffs.

The 2024 college football season marked a significant shift across the entire NCAA, as in-game video technology was permitted for the first time. Abilene Christian University (ACU), a consistently competitive program within the FCS, quickly adopted this new technology, utilizing GameStrat to help gain a competitive advantage. The Wildcats were the 2024 United Athletic Conference champs and made an impressive playoff run, ultimately falling in the second round to powerhouse North Dakota State, who went on to win their 10th FCS national championship (another GameStrat team).

This year, the NCAA approved in-game video technology to be used by football teams, marking a transformative moment for college football. As the 2024-25 college football season now comes to a close and longtime powerhouse & GameStrat team North Dakota State wins another National Championship, it is clear that GameStrat is the trusted leader in sideline video technology at the FCS level. Of the final 8 playoff teams this year, 7 of them relied on GameStrat to gain a competitive edge, and all 7 of them were awarded first-round byes for their impressive seasons.

In 2024, the Texas High School Football scene underwent a historic change. For the first time ever, the UIL allowed in-game video for high school football teams, opening new opportunities for coaches to analyze and adjust during games. However, this rule change came with a unique caveat: video could only be viewed in the press box, not on the sidelines. Despite this limitation, the Midlothian High School Panthers embraced the new technology and delivered an impressive 10-3 season, narrowly falling short in the Regional Finals by just 4 points.
